PRESSURE TESTING OF SEPARATOR

If leaks occur it will in most cases be neceassary to carry out a pressure test in order to find out the leak.
The pressure is carried out in following way:

1. shut the valve on the discharge side of the combined ejector/cooling water pump as well as the discharge valve on the overboard line from the combined air/brine ejector.further shut the valve on the discharge line to the freshwater tank.

2. open the air screw on the separator vessel in order to deaerate the vessel when supplying water for the pressure test.

3. supply water at the socket for the connection for feed water treatment. max pressure on separator vessel 150 KPA.

 RENEWAL OF GASKET
1.Removal of old gasket.pull out the old gasket from the groov. heat the back of the gasket groove with a hot air blower. a butane burner can also be used with flame held at a distance of 10-15 cm behind the plate.

 DONOT USE ACETYLENE GAS

 2. CLEANING

charred cement and rubber remains should  be removed by stainleas steel brush. acetone can be used to clean the grooves.

3. PRE-TREATMENT OF NEW GASKET
 The gasket should be dried with a clean cloth, slightly moisturened with a moisture.
4.FITTING OF NEW  GASKET
A thin layer of cement us applied to both gasket and the gasket groove in plate.
let cement dry. gasket is now fitted and be presses bw adjacent plates for one day.
