THE REFRIGERANT CHARGING IS DONE WHEN REFRIGERATION EFFECT OF REFER/ AC SYSTEM DECREASES DUE TO LEAKAGE OF GAS. BUT BEFORE REFRIGERANT IS CHARGED THE LEAK MUST BE DETECTED AND RECTIFIED. ONCE THE LEAK IS RECTIFIED FOLLOWING METHOD IS USED TO CHARGE THE REFRIGERANT :-
- THE OUTLET VALVE OF THE RECEIVER IS SHUT.
- THE REFRIGERANT IS ALLOWED TO GET COLLECTED INSIDE THE RECEIVER.
- THE REFRIGERANT IS ALLOWED TO GET COLLECTED TILL THE PRESSURE GAUGE READING SHOW 0.2 BAR. MANY A TIMES WE READ THAT LOW PRESSURE TRIP IS BYPASSED BUT IN ACTUAL THIS IS NOT DONE TO AVOID AIR INGRESS INSIDE THE SYSTEM.
- WHEN THE GAS IS COLLECTED THEN FIRST CHECK THE LEVEL OF GAS INSIDE THE SIGHT GLASS.
- SUCTION AND DISCHARGE VALVES OF COMPRESSOR ARE THEN SHUT.
- IF LEVEL IS OK THEN NO CHARGING IS CARRIED OUT AND THE OTHER REASON FOR LOW COOLING EFFECT TO BE FIND OUT.
- IF LEVEL IS NOT OK, THEN CHARGING TO BE CARRIED OUT.
- NOW, NOTE THE WEIGHT OF THE REFRIGERANT BOTTLE.
- THE BOTTLE IS THEN INVERTED IF LIQUID CHARGING IS CARRIED OUT.
- NOW GAS OUTLET LINE TO BE CONNECTED WITH THE CHARGING HOSE. NOTE THAT THE NON RETURN VALVE IS CONNECTED TO THE GAS COLLECTION BOTTLE WHICH IS CONNECTED TO THE LINE VIA A THREE WAY VALVE WHILE THE OTHER SIDE IS CONNECTED TO THE BOTTLE.
- NOW OPEN 3 WAY VALVE SUCH THAT GAS COLLECTION BOTTLE AND CHARGING BOTTLE IS CONNECTED AND OPEN GAS OUTLET LINE OF CHARGING BOTTLE TO PURGE OUT AIR IN THE HOSE.
- THE 3 WAY VALVE IS THEN CHANGED TO CONNECT CHARGING BOTTLE AND MAIN LINE. KEEP THE MAIN LINE VALVE OPEN BEFORE CONNECTING.
- LET ABOUT 5 KG OF GAS GET CHARGED INTO THE SYSTEM.
- NOW OPEN THE SUCTION AND DISCHARGE VALVE OF THE COMPRESSOR AND START THE SYSTEM.
- KEEP IN MIND THAT FILLING VALVE SHOULD BE SHUT BEFORE STARTING THE SYSTEM.
- NOW PUMPED DOWN THE SYSTEM AGAIN TO CHECK THE LEVEL OF REFRIGERANT. IF LEVEL IS NOT OK THEN AGAIN FILL THE REFRIGERANT FOLLOWING THE SAME PROCEDURE BEFORE. IF OK, THEN DISCONNECT THE HOSE. REFRIGERANT IS CHARGED SUCCESSFULLY.
LIQUID CHARGING IS PREFERRED AS IT WILL PASS THROUGH SILICA GET MOISTURE ABSORBER WHICH WILL ELIMINATE ANY MOISTURE IF PRESENT IN THE REFRIGERANT.
