HYDROSTATIC CURVE

Hydrostatic curve is a curve be draft and the various items namely TPC, MCT 1cm, DISPLACEMENT ,LCF ,LCB ETC.

Use of Hydrostatic curve:-

After the end draft has been taken it is necessary to interpolate to find out the mean draft. This is the draft immediately below LCF which maybe the aft, forward or amidship.

If this mean draft is taken as the average bw the end draft then in large full form vessel and fine form vessel this will create an appreciable error in displacement.

Let us take an example :-

Let true mean draft be 6 mtr. Now draw a horizontal line parallel to SLWL at 6 mtr on vertical axis right across the hydrostatic curve. Then the vertical line through each curve will give their respective value. These values can be used to attain new end draft and transverse stability, if weights are added to ship , discharged from ship or moved longitudinally or transversely within the ship.

  1. Hi
    here is a question
If displacement is 37500, than how much MTC is ?
my friend said is 500 ton-m
    I feel confused .
can you tell me your answer and why ?
    thanks a lot.
